Lubrication is recognized as the leading contributor to equipment performance and reliability. It is critical that both the quantity and quality of equipment lubrication be maintained at levels that ensure optimum performance. Protecting your lubrication fluids from contamination is the easiest and most effective way to reduce downtime associated with lubrication.

Prevention-Detection-Correction

Prevention

This is the most reliable means of preventing equipment failures. Dirt and water often enter equipment through vents, lubricators and seals during normal operations and maintenance. By minimizing the ways contaminants can enter, lubricant cleanliness levels are increased. Closed system oilers, desiccant breathers, mechanical oil seals and expansion chambers are a few ways to accomplish this.

**And remember, putting clean lubricants in the system helps too. Oilsafe containers are great for this!

Detection

Detection of oil condition can be used as either a diagnostic tool, or as assurance that your preventative methods are effective. The idea is to detect the worst contaminant of all, WATER, before it does extensive damage. The Hydroalert system is designed to do just that. Desiccant breathers may also be used as an indicator of high moisture levels.

Correction

In applications where prevention and detection just aren’t enough, you may be able to remove moisture and contaminants after the fact. Traditionally this has been done by filtering units and dehydrators. That’s great on larger pieces of equipment that warrant such an expenditure, but for smaller equipment you might consider a watchdog dryer.

Trico offers a complete line of fluid protection products designed to prevent and  detect and eliminate contaminants that threaten to increase your downtime.

Watchdog Oilers are the latest in the evolution of the constant level oiler. These oilers are designed to provide consistent levels of lubricant and create a closed system protected from the contaminants that would damage your equipment.

Oilsafe products provide a safe, easy method of transporting, handling and dispensing lubricating fluids in a wide variety of applications. These containers are designed to handle the toughest environments and come in avariety of colors for better organization.

The Hydrolert Products are designed to monitor levels of moisture lubricating fluids. Hydrolert units warn of increasing moisture contamination prior to 100% SRH, allowing adequate time for corrective action to be taken before free water occurs.

Stop guessing when it’s time to change the oil! No more wasted time checking oil when you don’t have to. Get Hydrolert Today!

Items Effecting Lubrication

Particulate contamination destroys bearings and leads to equipment breakdown.

High saturated relative humidity (SRH) levels damage bearings and equipment. Water detect       ion and removal are essential to keeping your plant up and running.

Negatively effects oil viscosity and accelerates degradation of oil.

Pressure buildup can compromise the integrity of your reservoir causing leakage.

Corrosive materials can contaminate oil accelerating wear and damage to equipment.

In any reservoir containing fluids, air is breathed in and out as the fluid level changes or as thermal expansion and contraction occurs. Fluid contamination is the primary cause of components wear and lubricant failure in industrial equipment.

Desiccant breathers offer an inexpensive way to insure only clean dry air enters your equipment through the vent.

Air Sentry Breathers use a three-stage filtration design to ensure optimum protection by removing water vapor and solid contaminants before they enter the fluid system.

First the air passes through a fine 2 micron solid particle filter. Then through a diffuser to ensure maximum effectiveness within the silica gel chamber. Next the water vapor is removed as the air travels through a bed of silica gel. After being dried, the air passes through a second 2 micron filter and enters the reservoir Clean and Dry!
